PILOTTI
An ongoing project exploring garment production, material memory, and forms of collective making.
AboutA new artistic project based on the history of Giulia Pilotti's family. The project is born in Castenedolo, in the heart of Lombardy, where for decades, the finest tailoring has been located. The project is defined by an obsessive focus on craftsmanship and unparalleled expertise in handmade clothing production together in
a unique synergy with the world of contemporary art.
From its inception, the project has been influenced by Arte Povera and the exploration of different perceptual and sensory dimensions that the 1960s movement brought about. These core values are reflected in the project’s belief in the importance of craft, art and sustainability in the Anthropocene era
in which we live. The project will encompass a unique experience,
an open system in which the experience of beauty is flexible and constantly renewable.
MissionThe mission is to connect tailoring processes, that stayed in the background of the fashion world for several years, with contemporary art. The aim of the project is to contribute to a revaluation of all the elements that characterize the craftsmanship process, focusing on the various stages that lead to the creation of the garments. The workshop should not be understood solely as a place of production but as a vital space that accommodates and shapes the existence of its workers in their everyday lives.
The project is powered by Materia and Confezioni Grazia.

Activation of Garments, Venice Biennale Pre-Opening, 2026
ParticipantsLina Ghotmeh · Ibrahim Mahama · Livia Nervi · Paula Nascimento · Chiara Rusconi · Francesca Migliorati · Andrea Rodriguez
During the pre-opening of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, a series of garments developed within PILOTTI were entrusted to a group of artists, curators, architects, and cultural practitioners. The activation unfolded through everyday movement across Venice, meetings, openings, conversations, waiting, crossings.Rather than functioning as static objects, the garments became temporary carriers of relationships between bodies, production histories, and contexts.PILOTTI explores garment making as a space where labour, material memory, and contemporary artistic practices intersect. The activation exists through use, circulation, and encounter.
